As you can see above is the first draft of my Digipack. From left to right I will give you a small summary of what's going on in each panel of the digipack. This first panel is the Digipack cover. This will actually be on the other side of the panel as when it folds up it will appear on the back. However for visual purposes I have put it on the front just to show what each panel will show. The second panel is where the CD will fit into the Digipack. The third panel shows the lyrics and the final panel is just left blank so the consumer can appreciate the album artwork/background. Again, semiotic analysis of this (colour, font, symbols especially) should enhance your creative process as you reflect upon connotations of your choices.
ReplyDeleteColours:
ReplyDeleteThe black and white colours used in the backgroudn made up of newspaper clippings I thought would work effectively in two ways. Firstly they could connote thoughts of going well together as black and white are often connoted to go well together and this could reflect to a couple in love or friends, which ultimately could reflect to the music. Another reason for the black and white background is that it is quite basic and simple and it allows the bold red text of the title and the lyrics to stand out and be noticed. The reason I used red text for both title is because it immediately grabbed you attention to it and made it seem the most important aspect of the cover. This is important for an album title. Red connotes romance and this is a key feature in my clients music and a theme we emphasised in our music video and so I thought the colour red would be a good choice to represent this.
